On Monday, December 11, 2023, as part of the autumn discussions, a lecture on German foreign and security policy was held. Our speakers this time were the esteemed Dr. Ognjen Pribićević, a senior research fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences and former Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Germany and the United Kingdom, and Dr. Vladimir Filipović, Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. Former Ambassador Pribićević addressed the attending students and professors on the internal determinants of German foreign and security policy, the significance of its historical experience and membership in the EU and NATO, the political situation, as well as sharing his experiences as an ambassador in this country. Responding to students' questions, he particularly emphasized the role of the economy in modern diplomacy and highlighted the main directions of changes in diplomacy compared to the Cold War period. Dr. Filipović spoke about the external determinants of German foreign and security policy, its relations with the EU, NATO, and China, as well as the Ukrainian conflict and its consequences for Germany's energy and economic stability. He also reflected on the question of the desirability of Germany's leadership and the significance it could have on European relations. The moderator of the event was Dr. Marina Kostić Šulejić, General Secretary of the Professional Association of the Security Sector and a lecturer at our Faculty.
