The Faculty of Organizational Studies “Eduka” had the honor of hosting, on November 26th, Prof. Dr. Nataša Simić, one of the most respected experts in the field of inclusive and multicultural education in the region. As a research advisor and associate professor at the Institute of Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Simić provided students with a unique opportunity to explore contemporary developments in inclusive practice—not only through theory, but through real challenges and examples from practice.
From the very beginning of the lecture, it was clear why Prof. Dr. Simić is recognized as a leading authority in this field. With depth, clarity, and exceptional dedication, she spoke about the key concepts of inclusive education, emphasizing the importance of shifting from the traditional medical model of disability to the psychosocial model, which centers the child, their potential, and the environment that should provide support.
Through striking examples, students had the opportunity to understand the difference between segregation, integration, and inclusion, as well as to recognize the essence of fairness: every child deserves support tailored to their individual needs.
Prof. Dr. Simić stressed that inclusion is not merely a change in teaching methods—it is a transformation of the entire perspective, culture, and values of an educational system.
A special segment of the lecture was dedicated to practical tools:
- creating a student’s pedagogical profile,
- planning and implementing individualization,
- structuring support through an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Through real situations from the school environment, students were able to see how a psychologist, teacher, and expert team work together to create an atmosphere in which every child can progress.
The lecture was held within the course Pedagogical and Developmental Psychology, but it soon surpassed the boundaries of a single class session.
For many students, meeting Prof. Dr. Simić was a moment of clear insight: a psychologist in the educational system is not just an evaluator of knowledge and behavior—they are an important driver of change, an advocate of fairness, and a key support for the child, parents, and teachers.
Students emphasized that this lecture changed the way they perceive inclusion, encouraged them to critically reflect on systemic challenges, and inspired them to recognize the power of knowledge, empathy, and expertise in building inclusive communities.
Why is this lecture important?
- Because inclusive education is not a trend—it is a standard of a modern society.
- Because psychologists and future professionals educated at “Eduka” must understand the complexity, responsibility, and beauty of the vocation they have chosen.
- Because fairness in the classroom means fairness in society.
The guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Nataša Simić brought students a clear message: inclusion begins with us. With the way we perceive differences, the decisions we make, and our willingness to give every child the space to develop according to their abilities. The Faculty of Organizational Studies “Eduka” continues to provide students with the highest level of knowledge and inspiring experiences that shape competent, empathetic, and socially responsible psychologists of the future.
