Brief Description of the Service

The professional orientation and counseling service is intended for final-year high school students and university students who seek reliable support in making informed decisions regarding the choice of study program, specialization, and professional development. The process includes a structured and individualized career guidance program, a combination of counseling interviews, psychological tests and questionnaires, career planning, as well as workshops when needed.

Service Objective

The objective of the professional orientation and counseling service is to provide students with expert and reliable support in making informed decisions about their educational and career direction, to help them develop a realistic plan for their next steps, increase career self-awareness and confidence in decision-making, and achieve long-term academic and professional satisfaction.

Who Is It Intended For?

Final-year high school students, university students, and individuals in transitional periods or experiencing dilemmas regarding their educational or professional direction.

Program Objective

The counseling process is structured and individualized and is implemented through clearly defined steps:

Step 1: Initial Consultation (analysis of dilemmas and goals) – A conversation during which the client’s needs, dilemmas, expectations, and counseling goals are defined.

Step 2: Psychological Assessment (tests and questionnaires) – Application of psychological tests and questionnaires in accordance with the purpose of the process, which may include: interests and professional preferences, abilities and developmental and professional potential, values and motivational drivers, and traits relevant to professional functioning and work style.

Step 3: Interpretation of Results and Feedback – Professional interpretation of findings and their integration into a comprehensive “profile,” while considering realistic educational and career options.

Step 4: Guidance and Decision-Making – Joint consideration of options and assistance in making decisions (choice of studies/specialization, change of direction, focus area).

Step 5: Action Plan – Development of a concrete plan for the next steps (e.g., preparation plan for enrollment, selection of subjects/specialization, skills to develop, internship selection, steps toward employment).

Note: Assessment instruments are used in accordance with confidentiality and ethical standards of the psychological profession.

  • Psychological assessment: tests and questionnaires for evaluating interests, abilities, values, and traits
  • Interpretation of results and feedback: professional analysis and integration into a comprehensive profile
  • Guidance and decision-making: review of options and assistance in choosing a direction
  • Development of an action plan: concrete steps for further development, preparation for internship or employment
  • Additional support: internship selection, CV/LinkedIn counseling, interview preparation

Method of Implementation

The process is carried out through individual consultations (1:1 or 2:1), and workshops if needed. The program is structured through clearly defined steps and the application of psychological instruments in accordance with professional ethical standards.

Lecturers

Dr. Ivana Jošanov-Vrgović is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Organizational Studies “Eduka” and a consultant in the field of human resource development. She has been working with youth and students since 2004, and since 2009 has collaborated as a consultant with small and medium-sized companies in the areas of selection, potential assessment, competency development, and career guidance. Her experience combines academic expertise and practical work, providing young people with clear and applicable recommendations for choosing their studies and career path.

Dr. Đerđi Erdeš-Kavečan is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Organizational Studies “Eduka” and an expert in developmental and educational psychology, with more than two decades of experience working with children, adolescents, students, and young people. Her experience includes professional orientation, counseling, and mentoring during educational and career decision-making phases. In her work, she combines scientifically grounded approaches, counseling interviews, and psychological assessment instruments, focusing on developing personal potential and empowering young individuals.
